*A FLAVORFUL ADVENTURE: MY NIGERIAN FOOD REVIEW*
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of indulging in a delightful Nigerian meal from a new online restaurant in Kampala that offers local Nigerian dishes. BEST KITCHEN whose contact details I will be sharing later on has a wide range of Nigerian food with a new menu per day..I decided to order for jollof rice because it wouldn’t be Nigerian food without jollof rice, pounded yam and egusi with okra soup to accompany it… guys..The combination of flavors, textures, and spices was nothing short of magical.Let me take you through my culinary journey and share my thoughts on each dish.
The meal consisted of an array of traditional Nigerian dishes, each one more mouth-watering than the last. Here's a breakdown of what I enjoyed:
*Jollof Rice:* The foundation of any good Nigerian meal, the jollof rice was cooked to perfection. Although I didn’t know jollof rice was actually spicy…The flavors were rich and well-balanced, with just the right amount of spice.
*Egusi Soup:* This hearty soup was a revelation. The egusi seeds added a delightful texture, while the broth was flavorful and aromatic. It was my favorite in the soups will definitely try it out again the meat was tender and cooked perfectly
*Okra Soup:* Uhm 😶 for this one right here I wasn’t such a fun. This is because I don’t like okra but judging from the Aroma and the consistency it was cooked just fine .. it’s just a personal issue with okra.. On the other hand I loved the beef that came with it
*Pounded Yam:* A staple in Nigerian cuisine, the pounded yam was cooked to a perfect, fluffy consistency. Initially I didn’t enjoy the pounded yam alone but paired it with the soups and it was divine!!! I enjoyed every bite
*Plantain:* The plantain was a lovely addition to the meal, adding a touch of sweetness to balance out the savory flavors.
My Nigerian food experience was nothing short of phenomenal. Each dish was expertly prepared, and the flavors were bold, vibrant, and utterly delicious. If you're a fan of spicy, savory, and satisfying food, look no further than Nigerian cuisine but if you are a picky eater skip okra soup for egusi soup
